'tis my first submission to y!gallery. It would take a long-ass time to explain exactly how I got from my Marathon Trilogy fanart to what is temporarily termed "DV Project", but to try and keep things brief: I have a Marathon AU that expands on canon by about 70%; I also have a number of sub-AUs that I enjoy messing around with (including a fusion with Forgotten Realms). A friend suggested that I put Vince and Durandal/Dante in an original setting, and so I did.
DV Project follows Vincent, a Martian immigrant to Earth with emotional problems and holes in his memory, and Dante, a kind, gentle android who's identical to a recurring figure in Vince's dreams. After Vince rescues Dante and his friend Angelus from some syndicate-types, the three live together for a few blissfully quiet weeks before Dante's dreaded older brother Casimir tracks him down, forcing the trio and Vince's neighbors Thema and Pavo to hit the road. Along the way, they pick up a belligerent drifter, Jessamine, and have several run-ins with Vince's old college buddy, Enzo Lynwood, and her desire to take painful revenge on the bastards who ruined her and Vince's lives. The group's situation grows steadily more complicated from there.
Vince may be very tired and struggling with PTSD, leaving him in a slightly unstable emotional state, but he's a compassionate person who can't turn away from someone who needs help. He believed that he could get by just keeping his head down in the dump they call Newport and surviving; it took his meeting with Dante for Vince to realize that he was, in fact, missing something vital in his life. Once his hastily-assembled group is on the run, Vince demonstrates time and again that he's not someone to be messed with, through a combination of greatly-enhanced cyborg strength and his abilities as a hacker.
Dante is still trying to shake off many years of abuse (intentional on the part of his creator, Bertram Strauss; unintentional on the part of Casimir); while he could easily put his skills as a tactician to great use, he wants nothing to do with most of the fields that would require them. Dante isn't really sure what he wants in life at first, besides having Vince and Angelus close by.

If folks are interested, I can start cross-posting what y!-compliant art I've already done for this setting (which, thus far, is most of it. :U).
